Building Tomorrow's Legacy with Timeless Vision
Look, we're not gonna throw fancy corporate speak at you. We started Halcyon Valor back in 2012 because we were tired of seeing buildings that looked good on paper but didn't actually work for the people using them.
Based out of Toronto's Queen West, we've spent over a decade figuring out how to make spaces that don't just look stunning but actually make sense - environmentally and practically. Yeah, sustainable design is our thing, but it's not because it's trendy. It's just... the right way to build.
We've done everything from restoring century-old heritage buildings to designing cutting-edge commercial spaces. Each project teaches us something new, and honestly, that's what keeps us excited about coming to work every day.
Started with three architects, one shared desk, and way too much coffee. Our first project was a residential renovation in Leslieville - the clients took a chance on us, and we poured everything we had into it.
Completed our first LEED Platinum commercial project. That's when we realized sustainable design wasn't just an add-on for us - it was gonna be our signature. The team grew to twelve, and we moved into our Queen West studio.
Won our first major award for the restoration of the old Broadview Hotel annexe. Learned that respecting history while pushing forward isn't contradictory - it's actually where the magic happens.
Launched our urban planning division. Started working on mixed-use developments that actually create communities, not just buildings next to each other.
Twenty-eight people on the team now, projects across Ontario, and we're still learning. Every building teaches us something about how people actually live and work. That's the whole point, isn't it?
Principal Architect
Sarah's been with us since day one. She's got this uncanny ability to see what a space could be, not just what it is. Specializes in adaptive reuse projects.
Sustainability Director
Marcus makes green building actually make sense. No greenwashing, just solid engineering and creative problem-solving. He's also our go-to for structural challenges.
Lead Interior Designer
Isabelle joined us in 2016 and transformed how we think about interior spaces. She's got this talent for making commercial spaces feel human without sacrificing functionality.
Project Manager
David keeps us honest with timelines and budgets. Former contractor, so he knows exactly what's realistic on-site. Saved our bacon more times than we can count.
Urban Planning Lead
Aisha heads up our urban planning division. She thinks about neighborhoods the way we think about buildings - as living, breathing systems that need to work for everyone.
Heritage Specialist
Tom's our history buff. When we're restoring heritage buildings, he's the one making sure we respect the original while making it work for today. Total perfectionist.
Senior Architect
Elena brings fifteen years of residential design experience. She's incredibly patient with clients (which we all appreciate) and has this gift for translating what people need into what we build.
Design Associate
James is our tech wizard. BIM, parametric design, VR walkthroughs - if there's new software that helps us design better, he's already mastered it.
2023 - Commercial Design
For the Queen West Mixed-Use Development. The jury said it "seamlessly integrates retail, residential, and community spaces" - we're pretty proud of that one.
2022 - Sustainable Innovation
Recognized for our work on net-zero commercial buildings. Three of our projects achieved LEED Platinum that year, which honestly surprised even us.
2020 - Adaptive Reuse
For the restoration of the 1890s warehouse conversion. Took us two years, but seeing that building come back to life was worth every late night.
2019 - Emerging Practice
This was a big one for us. National recognition when we were still finding our footing. Gave us the confidence to take on bigger, bolder projects.
Whether you've got a fully-formed vision or just a rough idea, let's talk. We're always up for a good challenge.
